Fire-starters

Colleagues,
I´m going search with detector in the Czech Republic. I'm interested in brass fire-starters and working on a professional study on this topic. This fire-starters are found throughout Central and Eastern Europe. In the Czech Republic already I know about more than 200 findings. I wonder how often and what types are located in Germany. I would ask you to send photos of your findings fire-starters.

Thank you. The motives of animals are much more, the picture is only illustrative. I know the snake, bird, ram, human figure, and many types of lion and a dog. I know more than 30 types ....

I suppose that you will hardly find any of those animal-shaped lighters in German detector forums, that you haven't found already in CZ. I also follow detektorweb.cz and the number and variety of these lighters found in CZ is without parallel in neither Germany nor Austria. They do pop up every now and then, though, but I have only seen the standard running-dog-typ so far. If you want to search the forums best use "feuerschläger".

Hi Bert,
those types of holders with a running dog is a lot of types and always appear of new types! In my study, I want to describe the most possible varieties. The study will serve to archaeologists and museums in their work in determining  holders of fire-starters. Each found and documented specimen help to monitor the incidence and identify the origin of each type

I send photos of dozens of types and variations, which I still managed to find out. There are many more, but some I couldn't still get into my collection. For my professional study I would like to obtain more information on the finds of the handles in Germany and Austria. So far I was able to document only three pieces from Germany and three of Austria. While in the Czech Republic are almost 500 findings. Other findings are from Slovakia, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus etc. I would therefore ask all those who found a handles of fire-starters, would be able to contact me.

This year I want completed my study. Later it will be also available in English. I will also try translated into German, but it will take some time. Thanks for any help.

Ich habe bereits die erste öffentliche Version von meinem Studie der Feuerschläger Griffen vorbereitet (Leider bisher nur in der tschechischen Sprache, Ich versuche, deutsche Übersetzung zu gewährleisten). Daher würde Ich mag um alle Kollegen bitten, ihre Funde zu mir Feuerschläger Griffen berichten. Ich habe über 500 dokumentierten Funde, aber in Deutschland und Österreich nur wenige Funde.
